History of the Venezuelan-Romanian Chamber of Commerce (CAVERUM)

  • ORIGINS

The Venezuelan-Romanian Chamber of Commerce (CAVERUM) traces its roots back to 2001, when the Venezuelan-Romanian Economic Chamber was originally established to strengthen economic, commercial, and cultural ties between Venezuela and Romania. For years, it served as a key bridge for entrepreneurs, investors, and institutions seeking to expand business opportunities across both countries. Over time, changes in the global and regional economic landscape highlighted the need to modernize the Chamber’s mission and operations, paving the way for its reactivation.

  • REACTIVATION PROCESS

In 2024, in close partnership with the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Romania, the Global Organization for Cooperation and Development (GOUV) conducted a series of visits to Venezuela. The objective was to connect Venezuelan and Romanian business leaders, identify new opportunities, and gather insights to rebuild a stronger and more effective Chamber. By engaging with local entrepreneurs, trade experts, and industry specialists, GOUV laid the foundation for the modernized CAVERUM.

In 2025, CAVERUM was officially reactivated, representing a renewal of the original Chamber. This revitalized institution incorporated contemporary strategies and structures, ensuring it could provide valuable support for businesses, facilitate trade, and attract investment between Venezuela and Romania.

  • DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

The reactivation of CAVERUM reinforces the longstanding diplomatic relations between Romania and Venezuela. Both countries have maintained cooperation through embassies, official missions, and bilateral agreements for decades. CAVERUM leverages these diplomatic ties to support economic initiatives, foster dialogue between governments and institutions, and create a professional network that bridges diplomacy and commerce.

  • ECONOMIC AND TRADE OPPORTUNITIES

Venezuela and Romania share significant potential for economic collaboration. Key sectors, including agriculture, energy, manufacturing, technology, and services, offer ample opportunities for bilateral trade and investment. CAVERUM provides a platform for companies to connect, explore partnerships, and navigate regulatory frameworks, helping both nations expand their commercial presence internationally.

The Chamber also promotes initiatives to support sustainable growth, knowledge exchange, and strategic collaboration, ensuring that business activities generate long-term benefits for both Venezuelan and Romanian economies.

  • TODAY AND THE FUTURE

Today, CAVERUM stands as a modern and dynamic institution, committed to fostering entrepreneurship, trade, and investment between Venezuela and Romania. By uniting business leaders, investors, and experts, the Chamber honors its historic roots while building a forward-looking platform for shared prosperity, international cooperation, and mutual development.
